Awhile ago during the fall I decided to try something new and explore the use of gunpowder in art making. It took quite awhile using a needle tool to push the tiny pebbles into the right position and sometimes I would budge the table with my arm having to start over. But once I got them into place we lit it up and watched the wood burn to etch in the drawing. I later found that by adding another layer and doing a second burn with the powder I could make some areas darker to add more dimension. Overall this experiment was fun and successful though make sure you have time and a safe environment to do this if trying it out, and research your gunpowder beforehand.
